Let your imagination be whisked away this winter

The most wonderful time of the year is certainly needed after the rollercoaster we have faced so far in 2020. It’s a time to reflect, be thankful for what we have and revere the spaces we live in.

Decorating is not just for the Christmas tree

Decorating your walls with works of art allows you to bring new elements of personalisation, turning your house into the home that you and your family want to spend time in. Dive into our collection and get a taste of what to purchase this festive season.

George Stubbs

Picture the beautifully rendered ‘Whistlejacket’ by George Stubbs taking centre stage in the dining room for Christmas Dinner. Bringing its glorious impact from the National Gallery directly into your home, creating space for conversation and admiration. When watching movies with your family this season, keep an eye out for Whistlejacket’s cameo in Skyfall as James Bond meets with the new Q.

Holly Frean

Artwork is both an expression of your identity and an opportunity to inspire those you welcome. Is your hallway in need of a pop of colour, some brightness to bring you home after a cold commute home in the blistering winter weather? The gently crafted colours of Holly Frean’s Pack of Cards Series will sit perfectly in any space yearning for a little extra ornamentation.

Claude Monet

This painting was the first by Monet to enter the Museum’s collection, in 1953. It shows Suzanne Hoschedé, the eighteen-year old daughter of Monet’s then mistress, and later wife, Alice, and his own son, Jean Monet, in the orchard of his garden at Giverny in 1886.

A scene so pleasant to the eye, yet such a contrast to the British winter outside. Cosy up indoors and gaze upon the intricacies of this print whilst sipping away this holiday season.

Activities for you and your loved ones this Christmas

Throughout the month we will be hosting a variety of workshops and events in our ‘12 days of Christmas’ running Thursday – Sunday in the first three weeks of December. From re-enactment podcasts to children’s painting and craft, there is something for everyone to get involved with. Of course, all our events have been adjusted to comply with social distancing measures and are available in adapted formats for those accessing our events online from the comfort of their own homes. At S&P gallery, our guest’s safety is our top priority.

To get involved and share the Christmas cheer, keep an eye out on our social media and blog posts in the coming weeks where you can find out more information and book your place.
