Faulty Scales is one of a series of whimsical bathroom subjects, all of which feature the colourful and rounded figures with which he has made his name.In the tradition of British artists like Stanley Spencer and Beryl Cook, each of Peter Heard’s paintings tells a story, but always the story of an ordinary person in an ordinary world.

Each print is hand signed by the artist and hand numbered.

About Artist:

Born just three days before outbreak of war in 1939, Peter Heard was evacuated as a young boy to his Grandmother’s house in Durham.

He began painting in the mid 1970s and it is a measure of his success that, within three years of his first work being displayed at the Portal Gallery, London (a gallery specialising in naive painters), he held his first one-man exhibition there, entitled “England’s Green and Pleasant Land”. Since then he has held a number of one man exhibitions, where he has successfully sold out.

Peter Heard is a purely self-taught artist who has gained much inspiration particularly from the Italian artist, Sergio Agostini, and from other artists including Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth and Frederic Cozzens.

Peter Heard’s work is easily identified through its colourful, happy, witty, meticulously detailed and nostalgic approach and he paints in both water-colour on paper and acrylic on board.
