ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A character, intended to represent the environmentalist who is frustrated with the negative impact the oil industry has had on nature. The ride side of the individual's face, which is darkened, is meant to represent the stain in which various oil companies have left on wildlife, directly impacting the conscious man, representing his direct connection with nature and wildlife.

On the left is a depiction of a bird whose motor skills have been directly impacted by an oil spill. With its wing darkened with what is supposed to be oil, it is standing on the mans shoulder because of its inability to fly. The flowers which encircle the character are an abstract depiction of his values as well as his connection to nature.
