Many species of tiger exist under the threat of extinction and the Sumatran tiger’s claw hold on life is particularly tenuous, with only around 700 believed to survive either on the Indonesian island of Sumatra or in zoos around the world. Of all tiger subspecies, the Sumatran is the smallest and it is also a wonderful swimmer. In Dick van Heerde’s charming depiction, these young Sumatran tiger cubs play in the hot sun under the watchful eye of their mother. Apparently innocent, their playful games are in reality their first lessons in the skills of the hunt.

Each print is hand signed by the artist and hand numbered.
