Will it give you short or long term gains? Has another artist got more potential? Is there a more popular style?
Not on the Menu is typical of many of Susan Bower’s quirky observations of everyday life. The artist captures in her unique painterly style all the subtle (and unsubtle) nuances of dining out in a scene that could be set in a City restaurant or a lunch-time cafe. Whilst colluding with the lone gentleman diner, who looks appreciatively at the waitress, Bower also gently pokes fun at him as he looks longingly at the waitress. Unbeknownst to the waitress, and despite her professional ‘airs’, another fleeting moment is also depicted, when a second diner is also caught surreptitiously glancing at her. The waitress, seemingly unaware or accustomed to the attention, carries on her duties regardless. The artist has created a convivial and light-hearted everyday scene and captured in perpetuity a world that is so often overlooked.
Each print is hand numbered and accompanied by a certificate signed by the artist. The certificate is numbered to match the print.
