This stunning work of art by Valentino Monticello, Fidelio, is produced, in accordance with the artist’s customary technique of cutting and shaping only the labels taken from bottles of fine wine in order to create the collage. All the wines used here emanate from Spain, so as to add to the atmosphere of the scene.

Fidelio is a German opera in two acts by Ludwig van Beethoven. It is Beethoven's only opera. The German libretto is by Joseph Sonnleithner. The opera tells how Leonore, disguised as a prison guard named Fidelio, rescues her husband Florestan from death in a political prison. The opera is set in the outskirts of Seville, Spain. Monticello has chosen to depict a scene in the jailer's quarters. Leonore, disguised as Fidelio has just returned, carrying heavy chains from the blacksmith. The jailer, Rocco, praises him for his industry. He believes Fidelio is helping him with such zeal because he has aspirations towards his daughter Marzelline.

The print is hand numbered and accompanied by a certificate signed by the Master Printer and bearing a matching number to the print.
