Susan Bower was born in 1953. She has painted all her life and has been a professional artist for over 20 years. She describes her work as painting “the familiar and the intimate. For me, painting is freedom and each painting is an adventure”.
Susan Bower has exhibited around the UK for many years and she has won numerous awards, including the Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters Non-Members Prize in 1994, the Royal Watercolour Society Gallery Prize in 1995, the Catto Gallery Award in 1996, the Daler-Rowney prize in 1996 and the Royal Institue of Oilpainters Members Medal in 1997. Her work was hung at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2005 and in numerous previous years. She has also exhibited at the New England Art Club and at the Royal Society of British Artists, where she became a member in 1994.
She lives and paints in Yorkshire and has four grown-up children.
