Foxhounds At Rest
|Title||Foxhounds At Rest|
|Paper Size (W x H)||28 x 11 ins|
Foxhounds at Rest captures the moment after a day’s hunting when the hounds are tired but not quite asleep. This is an atypical hunting scene and one which only a few people get to see of a particular pack and it is consequently one that the artist particularly cherishes. Church prefers to paint hounds outside their normal environment of the hunting field because they have great individual characteristics which come more apparently to life when the dogs are at rest. The artist therefore spends considerable time in the kennels after a hunt studying the hounds. He knows the animals well and enjoys watching them tussle and tumble over one another until they find themselves comfortable. The hounds in this particular image are local to the artist, coming as they do from the Portman Hunt.
Each print is hand numbered and accompanied by a certificate signed by the artist. The certificate is numbered to match the print.
