The vibrant cultures acquired in her home cities, in particular from her time in New Orleans, Miami and Quebec, have inspired Marsha Hammel's passion for the two prevalent themes in her art, music, and figure. During her education, Marsha Hammel was taught a classical and European approach to art and, in spite of being told later that contemporary artists should produce conceptual or abstract pieces, the classical idea still governs her work. Marsha Hammel was inspired to paint this design during a day when she felt particularly positive about life and hope.

The three dancing figures represent her own emotion that "life is good", the simplest feeling of unconditional joy expressed in the movement of dance and translated into the movement of the line. The painting is also characterized by the artist's sense of colour. Marsha Hammel decided in the 1980s, when painting in the subtropics, that colour was taking over her compositions and decided to limit her pallet to earth pigments: black, white, ultramarine, alizarin crimson, and cadmium yellow medium. Since then, colour has gradually returned to her art but, as this painting shows, this simple pallet is still the basis of her work today.

Each print is hand numbered and accompanied by a certificate signed by the artist. The certificate is numbered to match the print.
