In speaking about Pitcher Plants II, Rosie Sanders states: “It is the form, colour and, sometimes, patterns contained in the plants which attract me. With these pitcher plants, it is the colour and patterning which is particularly intriguing. I find them a strange and slightly threatening plant; not least because the way in which the hairs lie on the sides of the pitchers leads the prey down into the water, making retreat impossible.”

Rosie Sanders paints onto a very heavy, rough watercolour paper; not in the traditional way of the water-colourist but by applying a good amount of quite dry and strong paint, often with a flat hog-hair brush. Her paintings are about five feet in width and the flowers she depicts are shown about fifteen times life size. Having once painted miniatures, she finds this new size and scale both challenging and exciting and believes that her larger paintings are best viewed from a distance in order to experience the full impact and power of the plants she depicts.

Each print is hand numbered and accompanied by a certificate signed by the artist. The certificate is numbered to match the print.
